About Lice Happens

Lice Happens is a full service, professional, and mobile lice removal, treatment, and education clinic. We are proud to serve South Central New Jersey including the areas of Princeton, Hillsborough, Basking Ridge, Bridgewater, and Robbinsville.

We offer discreet and private in-home services to families in the local area. Our vehicles are logo-free and inconspicuous, ensuring that your privacy is never compromised. Our mobile family service center will come right to your home to alleviate your stress and lice problems.

Anybody can get head lice, though children are the most susceptible to an outbreak. Lice do not fly or jump, but they do crawl rapidly from head to head when in close enough proximity. Because children often work and play very close together, this makes them the most prone to an outbreak. Adults and parents are not excluded however. A simple snuggle with your child can allow lice to infect you too. Every person in the home is at risk for catching head lice once lice have come into the home. Our specialists are thorough and meticulous from the beginning and will check each family member to ensure that those who have head lice are identified and treated right away. Our goal is to completely end the life cycle of the lice during our first (and hopefully only) visit.

Our head lice treatments are non-toxic and gentle on all skin types. They are made from natural ingredients, are pesticide free, and are environmentally friendly. These treatments have no side effects and are safe for the whole family. This is much different than you might find on a drugstore shelf.

Over-the-counter treatments are becoming less and less effective as lice adapt to the chemicals and toxins in them. They often require more than one treatment, but are usually still ineffective after multiple treatments. The problem is that lice are becoming immune to the ingredients in these treatments and when combined with improper removal techniques they’ll come back time and time again. This can leave parents stressed and frazzled! Luckily, our treatments work the first time!

Proper removal of all nits (eggs), nymphs (young lice), and lice is absolutely essential to our treatment plan and to eradicating head lice. Our specialists go through extensive training to master combing techniques and we use only the best metal lice combs. Our specialists employ gentle and soothing methods for combing the hair. This skill is especially important when treating young children as it soothes them and allows them to have a comfortable experience. We teach parents and caregivers the proper way to use a lice comb should the need ever arise again in the future.

While in your home the specialist will also educate you on facts vs. myths that surround head lice, who gets them, how to treat them, proper home care, follow up care, and will answer any questions you have. We also provide tips on how to prevent lice infestations from occurring again in the future. Education is a key piece of what we do and we love empowering families in South Central New Jersey.

The Counties We Serve

Princeton is ranked 15th out of 100 as one of the greatest places to live in the United States. Princeton University and many other local colleges call Princeton their home as well. There are great schools for young children and many parks. This area, like all of South Central New Jersey is rich in history.

Officially recognized in 1771, Hillsborough is another fantastic part of South Central New Jersey. Right alongside Princeton, Hillsborough is ranked 16th out of 100 as one of the greatest places to live in the United States. This township was central to the efforts of George Washington and his troops during the revolution. In Hillsborough you’ll find a township that is well cared for with updated roads, public transportation, and great schools.

Basking Ridge, also full of history, was settled by European immigrants looking for refuge from religious persecution. Scottish and British refugees settled here in the 1720s. This area of South Central New Jersey is now home to several large corporation headquarters including Verizon and Barnes and Nobles Booksellers, which provide jobs to locals. This area, like most of South Central New Jersey is full of beautiful parks as well.

Bridgewater Township is home to many families as this location is made up largely of suburban neighborhoods. This family friendly area is home to Middlebrook Encampment, which played a very important role during the revolution. It is said that the first official American Flag was raised in Middlebrook encampment. Today, you’ll find a 13 star flag flown here 24 hours a day. Job opportunities abound in Bridgewater Township for families seeking employment in the pharmaceutical or technology fields.

Previously known (until 2007) as Washington Township, Robbinsville Township is located smack dab in the middle of New Jersey. Though small, this township is up and coming. Homes, lofts, condos, retail space, and real-estate space are being developed for families that are looking to make Robbinsville Township and South Central New Jersey home.

All of these locations are about equidistance from New York State and Pennsylvania. It’s always easy to find something interesting for families to do here and it’s easy to travel to a major metropolitan city for weekend getaways. This location is ideal for those looking for a quieter lifestyle without being too secluded. It’s no wonder that great families are choosing South Central New Jersey as home!

We are proud to serve those families! Lice Happens South Central New Jersey is owned by local business woman Jan Cooper-Lice Whisperer. She is dedicated to “[turning] what seems to be an awful situation into one that is not only manageable but empowering.”

Lice Happens is available for appointments and emergency lice removal services 7 days a week. You’re our friends and neighbors and we want nothing more than to help you end the life cycle of lice so you can get back to enjoying your family and this great area that we live in!
